Update on New Public Toilet at The Playstool
Borden Parish Council
In response to requests from parishioners and park users, Borden Parish Council is installing a new unisex public toilet at the Playstool.
The facility will be accessible to all, with features including:
• Disabled access (step free)
• Baby-changing station
• Warm water and dryer for handwashing
• Heating for comfort
To discourage misuse, the toilet will have a timed lock, allowing access only during daylight hours. Additionally, CCTV monitoring is in place 24/7, with direct access to local authorities, to ensure safety and prevent anti-social behaviour.
The full cost of the toilet, installation, and CCTV system is funded entirely by grants, with no parish funds involved. These grants were specifically designated for this project and cannot be used for other purposes.
There are currently a few minor plumbing issues being addressed by the manufacturer, and we are also awaiting the arrival of advisory signs and waste disposal bins. We expect the toilet to be fully operational by early March.
Due to recent heavy rainfall, groundworks around the unit are delayed. Gransdens, our installation contractor, will level and reseed the area as soon as the weather improves and the ground is firm enough.
Thank you for your patience as we complete this important community facility. Our committee is working hard to ensure the toilet is fully functional as soon as possible.
